What it is an ICAVL lab and how does that affect the quality of my testing?
The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) describes an accredited lab as one which “Patients can rely on accreditation as an indication that the facility where their examination will be performed has proven a commitment to providing quality medical testing. Patients can rest assured that accredited facilities have been carefully critiqued on all aspects of their operations considered relevant by medical experts.”
The Vascular Lab at DuPage Medical Group is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) in the division of the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL). An ICAVL lab is a step above the rest because by partaking in the accreditation process our labs demonstrate a dedication to quality vascular testing while striving to meet nationally recognized standards. Becoming accredited requires a submission of vascular examination samples as well as documentation of daily operations. Only labs found to provide quality care are granted ICAVL accreditation in accordance with the ICAVL Standards.
