DuPage Medical Group is proud to welcome Dr. Laisvyde Smajkic to the department of Rheumatology. Board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, Dr. Smajkic is fully committed to providing compassionate and quality care to her patients. Before joining DuPage Medical Group, Dr. Smajkic was in private practice as a rheumatologist and also served as a Clinical Instructor in the Division of Immunotherapy at Northwestern University in Chicago.
After receiving her medical degree from Kaunas University of Medicine in Lithuania, and completing her residency in Internal Medicine at John Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Dr. Smajkic went on to complete a two year fellowship in Immunotherapy and Stem Cell Transplantation followed by another two year fellowship in Rheumatology both at Northwestern University in Chicago.
Dr. Smajkic’s clinical expertise include autoimmune diseases, in particular systemic sclerosis, lupus, Sjogren’s syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory myopathies. Dr. Smajkic has authored and coauthored numerous articles published at the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases, Blood and the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and presented at annual meetings of the American College of Rheumatology and the American Society of Hematology.
Dr. Smajkic is a member of the American College of Rheumatology. She is fluent in English and Lithuanian. Dr. Smajkic is affiliated with Good Samaritan, Edward and Central DuPage Hospitals.
