Urology
Craig Smith, M.D., F.A.A.P., F.A.C.S.
A board certified urologist, Dr. Smith has extensive urologic experience, which includes all aspects of pediatric urology as well as reconstructive, routine and innovative surgical techniques and therapies for adults, including robotic surgery. Dr. Smith's primary focus is on achieving optimal outcomes by utilizing state-of-the-art surgical care with compassionate, patient interaction.
Dr. Smith earned his medical degree in 1986 from the University of Illinois in Chicago where he also completed his urology residency as an Administrative Chief Resident in 1992. The following year he received intensive, specialized fellowship training in Pediatric Urology at Emory University in Atlanta and then transferred to Detroit in 1993 as an Assistant Professor of Urology at Wayne State University practicing exclusively pediatric urology at the Children's Hospital of Michigan. In 1997 he relocated to Peoria, Illinois, extended the scope of his practice to include adult urology and was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor by the University of Illinois. Dr. Smith continues to publish and lecture on urology and pediatric urology topics for medical journals, textbooks and at national urology conferences.
Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Urologic Association, American Association of Clinical Urologists, American Medical Association and is actively involved in the local charter of the Christian Medical and Dental Society. He is affiliated with Central DuPage, Edward, Hinsdale, and Good Samaritan Hospitals.
