Bernt Carlson, PT, joined the DuPage Medical Group team of therapists in 2011. Bernt received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from Governor State University in 2011. He also completed his undergraduate degree in Anthropology and Biology from Northern Illinois University in 2003.
Bernt enjoys most working with spine patients. He has had additional training in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). The McKenzie Method focuses on movement assessment to identity effective treatment strategies for patient to quickly reduce pain, increase mobility and return to function. Bernt is working towards a certification from the McKenzie Institute.
Having worked as a personal trainer in the past, Bernt also has experience working with athletes and sport related injuries. Bernt enjoys the one-on-one time spent with his patients. He utilizes several manual therapies including Graston Technique which utilizes instruments to reduce soft tissue restrictions. He also focuses his treatment on patient education in mechanic, ergonomics and injury prevention.
Bernt is a member of American Physical Therapy Association and the Illinois Physical Therapy Association.
