John D. Porcelli, M.D.
A Chicago native, Dr. Porcelli brings extensive pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine expertise to his role at DuPage Medical Group. Prior to joining us, Dr. Porcelli developed an animal model of acute lung injury and performed research at the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health. His comprehensive medical training also included time spent as an emergency room attending physician at Hines Veterans Administration Hospital from 2001-2004 and the emergency room observation unit at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center from 1999-2001. Dr. Porcelli's clinical interests include lung cancer, emphysema, chronic cough, sarcoidosis, acute lung injury, adult asthma, sleep disorders and many other pulmonary diseases.
Dr. Porcelli received his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1994 and his medical degree in 1998 from Rush Medical College in Chicago. In 2001, he completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He underwent intensive fellowship training in Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood from 2001-2004 where he served as Chief Fellow from 2003-2004.
Dr. Porcelli is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society, Chicago Thoracic Society, and American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is affiliated with Central DuPage, Edward, and Good Samaritan hospitals. He also maintains an academic appointment at Loyola University Medical Center. Dr. Porcelli is a huge Chicago sports fan and exercise enthusiast who also enjoys furthering his education by staying up to date with new therapeutic options in his field.
