Compassionate care is the focus of Dr. Philip’s philosophy of excellence in medicine. This is at the heart of what led Dr. Philip to be one of the key founders of the DMG hospitalist group. The group is based on a patient centered approach to wellness that emphasizes the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families in accelerating the healing process.
Dr. Philip completed his undergraduate training at Northwestern University, and graduated with honors from Northwestern University Medical School. Dr. Philip completed his residency at the University of Illinois, where he was elected resident of the year for three consecutive years in recognition of his commitment to excellence in medicine. He was also bestowed with the award for humanistic resident of the year for his focus on patient advocacy.
This is the same vision that led Dr. Philip to Nicaragua and South Africa in pursuing medical relief missions to those without access to healthcare. He is currently working on a program to prevent the transmission of HIV to newborns throughout South Africa, while enabling other DMG hospitalists to be involved in local and international endeavors to promote health and wellness.
These missions have inspired Dr. Philip along with other DMG physicians to continue to provide care internationally. The hospitalists of DuPage Medical Group have conducted seven trips to Haiti to date, with Dr. Philip in attendance on two occasions. While in Haiti, Dr. Philip was instrumental in helping to start a clinic in 2010-2011. This clinic is currently up and running and continuing to provide medical relief to those in need.
His interests include active involvement in his local church, traveling, camping and playing football.
